Over the years, my role as a consultant has evolved from an instructional designer to the go-to person to take initial concepts and turn them into products. In 2020, a pandemic propelled the digitalization of services. During that time, I worked on the design and integration of a native mobile app and a web-based application to fulfill the requirements of social-distancing protocols in clinical interviews.
This project involved different systems working seamlessly to capture audio and video recordings. I actively participated in the entire product life cycle: research, conceptual design, prototyping, usability testing, and launch (including the creation of digital training for the end-users and product presentation materials).
As a Product Designer, I:
Gathered all the information about the business and users’ needs to fully understand the stakeholders’ vision and expectations.
Used the initial requirements to conceptualize ideas and present functional prototypes to a multidisciplinary team. In doing so, I became the communication nexus between the management team and the developers.
Created and presented detailed workflows to help team members visualize the user experience, identify potential problems, and prioritize features for the first launch.
Created an aesthetically pleasing user interface following UX and the company’s brand standards and provided the developers with all the necessary assets to bring the product to life.
Participated in the usability testing process and recommended improvements. Updated the product documentation.
Designed and developed online training courses and manuals for each product.
We strongly believe that any successful project has three fundamental pillars: 1) a holistic approach and understanding of the problem that needs to be solved, 2) good communication among all team members, and 3) a vast knowledge of the technologies and tools that will create the biggest impact for the company.
For this reason, research and prototyping are a huge part of our ideation process. We always try to foster good communication and advance a project by helping stakeholders visualize different solutions, so they can have a bigger picture of the final product and, together, we can evaluate what needs to be done in each stage to accomplish the project’s goals.
